Donna Covey is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area living in Benicia, California. Currently, she and her husband, John, split their time between their home in Benicia and their mountain home in Truckee.
Although Donna graduated with a degree in Art:Design from San Jose State University, she was never involved in producing art once she left college. However, four years ago, after many years as a school principal, teacher, and education consultant she decided to pick up her paintbrush and paint palette and begin creating with watercolors and acrylics.
Buoyed by re-discovering her artistic talents, what started as a hobby has blossomed into a new career. She has had several solo shows in the past year and is now represented by three art galleries: Art Obsessions in Truckee, Arata Fine Art Gallery in San Francisco, and Lawler House Gallery in Suisun City, CA.
Donna will tell you, “I’m not sure why, but I love painting buildings and signs. My intent is to find and enhance - with splashy color - the beauty of existing buildings and include a little whimsy in the process.”
